Hawk Hi All, I'm not sure how many of you are FB users, I tried to resist it many times but I find it useful for keeping me up to date with a number of my interests. Anyway, if we want to publicise BASIC Engine more and get more people involved, the FaceBook-Modern Retro Computing group is a good place to start. BASIC Engine has been mentioned there a couple of times, but it would be good to have some posts on there that show the variety of different platforms that BASIC Engine can run on. If you've got some great photos of your setup, maybe make a post there to share with other like-minded people who may not yet be aware how cool BASIC Engine is.
painintheworld Hawk I will be back on FB in about 10 days, after my self-imposed absence is over, and will check it out. We had a BASIC Engine group on FB, but Kevin (a former member here, sysop of the group on FB, and former retailer of BASIC Engine original version and Color Maximites) vanished some months back.
Dmian I closed my account and will never use that site again. I’m thinking of closing all other social networks accounts, though none of the accounts I have are personal or have any significant content. The only site I use regularly is Reddit, but it’s not better or less toxic than the rest, though you can limit yourself to specific interest subreddits. There’s a BASIC subreddit there, but not much is talked in it.
MC10Guru Ahoy, It was hard enough for me to join 3 forums and now Github. Back in the 1990s and early 2000s I was very actine in the vintage home computer movement and I was the owner of several Yahoo groups that were very active. We had tons of info on there when Yahoo decided to change then destroy the groups en masse. Soon after my collection of home computers worth over $10k was deliberately destroyed (long story). At that point I was both too tired and too devastated to recreate any of it. Only after I was forced to retire early and discovered SBC computers did I become interested in hobby computers again. Anyway, I think I'll pass on FB for now. daveyb
painintheworld MC10Guru Similar story here, Dave, though I didn't lose quite that much. The part of the collection that bothered me most was my complete Vectrex collection. 😠 😤 @Dmian They've all become absolute cesspits 🙁 I wouldn't mind a bare metal Facebook program that auto-rejected anything but the computer groups I'm interested in.
