It got me thinking .. what number could BE NG handle?
I already upped the number background layers to 6 and screen memory to 5x screen height without impact. 256 sprites would open up a lot of possibilities!!

I look forward to see what you come up with, @davegardnerisme . I've played about with recycling sprites and displaying more than 32 simultaneously, but can't get rid of all the flicker. Curious to see how far you can push uli's compositing engine!
