To help me learn some basic stuff about the mechanics of games, I reckoned it'd be best to start with something simple.
This is very early on in the game's development, but it is a semi-functional game so far. Several obvious things have jumped out at me already, one of the main things is the need for a level editor (a quick and dirty editor should happen very soon).
The horizontal playfield will be narrowed (96 pixels less than in the image below), with the score, round #, etc. info being on the right-hand side of the screen. . SCREEN mode is #14 (480x270).
Part of the tiles in the screenshot are public domain images and part of them are of my design (which will be public domain as soon as I upload them), and 16x16. Newer versions of the game have 16x10, 16x16, and 32x12 differently colored tiles. Some 8x12 tiles will be created in a few days to see how they work out.
In the next day or two I'm going to play about with moving the paddle with a mouse, instead of a joystick.
