Thomas E. Kurtz has passed away

Thomas E. Kurtz passed away on the 12th of November 2024, at the beautiful age of 96. 'Beautiful' because it's divisible by 2, 4, 8 and 16.

Thomas E. Kurtz and John Kemeny both co-invented the BASIC programming language at Dartmouth College, so it seemed fitting to report his passing here.

Rest in peace, Dr. Kurtz. I sincerely hope you are in a better place where you can forever rant about incompatible implementations. Your work and the work that followed from it has created a better world for me and millions, if not billions, of others.
