I finally watched the video on something larger than an iPhone. I really like the graphical touch (kind of a torn page look) on the sides/top/bottom of the screen, the animated flames on the lanterns, the levers that have to switch off/on and more. This is a very solid game and you've done one hell of a job!
Is the pathfinding code, particularly in level 8 where a dozen or so bad guys are after the protagonist(s), bespoke @davegardnerisme code?
Are you developing on the BASIC Engine NG itself?
Maybe you will show us the WYSIWYG tool sometime? š I started on a simple sprite/tile design tool that I need to get back to working on, particularly since I've got my mouse and gamepad issues resolved.
If you are amenable to it, it would be a fantastic game and tool to put on the official SD card image š
