Font switching not working in 126

@uli Is it possible that font loading is not working with build 126?
I have FONT 2 in the code (I even tried FONT "bescii" SIZE 8,8). The code is recognised in both cases, but I only see the default font I'm using in the config.ini (FONT 1) rendered. I do see the pixel art, though, (that's the reason I was using FONT 2 to begin with) so the mapping is correct for that.

Sorry, I cannot reproduce that with either 126 or my current development tree. When I set the default font to 1 and then do FONT 2, the BESCII font is used as expected. Do you have anything else that is non-standard in your config.ini?

uli Yes, I have the phys_mode set to 0. This is how my config.ini looks:

font=1
phys_mode=0

And even if I set the FONT to 2 manually, and then run the code (that has FONT 2), I see the Amstrad CPC 464 font.

EIther way, I have just pushed out some significant changes to the font handling. To quote from the commit message (https://github.com/uli/basicengine-firmware/commit/8c062543d8437be2fa165f55241c932bed50c6e5):

Separates TrueType fonts from their bitmap conversion. Removes requirement to load a font repeatedly to get different sizes and makes it possible to use built-in fonts at non-standard sizes.

Expect it to show up in tomorrow's build.

OK, one moment. Does that mean it works when you set the font manually, but as soon as you run the program, it's back to the other font?

I still see the same thing with build 130. Is there anything I can do to help find out what's going on?

I just:

downloaded build 130,
dd'd it to an SD card,

created a config.ini file that says

font=1
phys_mode=0

booted it,
changed the font to BESCII with FONT 2.

It works perfectly fine. On three different boards.

Can you send me an image of your SD card?

Is it perhaps that you expect the font to be persistent across screen mode changes? Because it isn't. The font is always reset to the default when changing modes, and it's documented as well:

* Apart from changing the mode, `SCREEN` clears the screen, resets the font
  and color space (palette) to their defaults, and disables sprites and
  tiled backgrounds.

uli The font change is made after the screen mode change. It used to work, but suddenly stopped. I noticed the font change after I changed the build, and suddenly something looked odd, and noticed the font command was not working in the program.
I’ll keep investigating, and if I can provide more info, I’ll let you know.

Edit: You're right! It was a SCREEN command in a different part of the code I had forgotten about. I need to find out why it was not changing the FONT previously (maybe I was doing something differently, like using CLS, and changed it, and forgot about it).
